6 Step Finan­cial Plan­ning Process

The process I go through with my clients is the 6 steps finan­cial plan­ning process.

Stage 1: Estab­lish and define our relationship

We will meet up with you and explain the pur­pose of the meet­ing. I will intro­duce my com­pany , pro­vide clar­ity on my role and how I can value add to your finances.

Stage 2: Gather data, define goals (Fact Find­ing)

I will first need to iden­tify and analyse your finan­cial needs. I will ask many ques­tions to gather infor­ma­tion. It cov­ers  not only quan­ti­ta­tive ques­tions, but qual­i­ta­tive as well, e,g. your desired retire­ment age, your views on invest­ment , any spe­cial needs plan­ning you require (eg your son is going to uni­ver­sity iin year 20xx).

I will estab­lish which life stage you are at, for exam­ple, a stu­dent, newly mar­ried, plan­ning a fam­ily, near­ing retire­ment, and so on. Next I will gather all rel­e­vant finan­cial infor­ma­tion to under­stand your needs and deter­mine your con­cerns and finan­cial goals. I  will also need to ascer­tain your atti­tude to risk (risk profile).

Since I rely on the infor­ma­tion you have pro­vided to assess your needs, in order to assist me in giv­ing you the best advice, it is impor­tant to share as much infor­ma­tion as pos­si­ble regard­ing your finan­cial circumstances.

Stage 3: Analyse and eval­u­ate finan­cial status

This is where I will analyse all infor­ma­tion gath­ered and eval­u­ate your finan­cial sit­u­a­tion in rela­tion to your objec­tives. The analy­sis and eval­u­a­tion of the infor­ma­tion pro­vided form the basis on which rec­om­men­da­tions are made. I will then do up the com­pre­hen­sive finan­cial report for you. (Read on to see the con­tents of this report)

Stage 4: Develop and present recommendations

I will meet up with you to explore rel­e­vant alter­na­tives to meet your finan­cial objec­tives. I will design solu­tions and pro­vide options that can rea­son­ably meet those objec­tives and explain to you the basis of his rec­om­men­da­tion, as well as the costs and charges involved, and the fea­tures as well as the Pros And Cons of the rec­om­mended instruments.

Stage 5: Imple­ment recommendations

You should eval­u­ate the advice and Rec­om­men­da­tions given, and select the appro­pri­ate pol­icy or poli­cies for your­self so that we can imple­ment it.

Stage 6: Review with client periodically

Will review your cur­rent finan­cial sit­u­a­tion peri­od­i­cally (nor­mally annu­ally)  should so that any changes to your exist­ing finan­cial plan should hap­pen, we can review it. Another impor­tant point to remem­ber is that your rela­tion­ship with me is a long-term one. Your insur­ance cov­er­age and invest­ment port­fo­lio should be reviewed peri­od­i­cally to ensure that they are aligned with your needs. Thus, it is nec­es­sary to make con­tact with me when changes occur, such as when you pur­chase a home or have children.
